So Long, Summer. . . Hello, Fall. . .
To celebrate the change of seasons and, well, just to get everyone together for some fun, we’re organizing a group Hay Ride and Bon Fire again this year, at Brighton Recreation Riding Stable (6660 Chilson Road, Howell, MI) in the Brighton State Recreation Area (see map below) on Saturday, October 24th.
Cost will be $8.00 per person (“pay at the door” – mention Joe Knopp’s group to get this discounted price). This includes our own private bon fire, the hay ride and pizza. Our party will run from 7:30pm to whenever you have to leave. In previous years, they were willing to let us stay as long as we wanted to hang out around our bon fire, listen to music and socialize.
Plan to arrive at 7:30pm, when we’ll begin socializing around our private bon fire (look for our group’s bon fire between the parking lot and the barn), and organizing for the Hay Ride, which will depart at about 9:00. There’s room for thirty on each wagon, and the wagons leave every half-hour. So, if there’s not enough room for all of us on one wagon, we can hang out by the fire for the next wagon. Following the Hay Ride, we’ll return to our own private group bon fire(s) for more socializing.
This year, you should plan to bring a snack to pass, your beverage of choice, a folding chair and maybe a blanket if it’s cold that night. Alcohol is allowed “in moderation.” That just means don't flaunt it, especially away from our private bon fire.
Now, since we can’t predict the weather, if it looks like rain that evening, please call me at 810-923-1567. If weather threatens, we’ll make a decision by 6:00pm and let you know if we will cancel or reschedule.
To help us prepare, please let me know by return email if you plan to join us. We need to let the facility know how many wagons (30 people each) to reserve.
