BIKING
Many A2SC members are avid bikers-- road bikes and mountain bikes. Several evening rides on paved trails are pretty regular, in particular the Monday afternoon Dexter ride and Wednesday evening Lakeland Trail ride.
Occasionally we ride city streets as in the Two Wheeled Motor City ride downtown Detroit that gets repeated during the warmer months. And, a dedicated group ride the dirt paths, particularly at Island Lake Recreation Area.
Dexter Monday Bike Rides
Join us for Monday bike rides starting May 12 throughout the summer as weather permits. We will start at 2:00PM at the parking lot of Forest Lawn Cemetery, at the corner of Grand and Broad. Typically we will ride north to the Hudson Mills Metro Park (5 miles), ride a loop around the park (3 miles) and return to the parking lot for a total of 13 miles. Ride is flat and paved with some boardwalk. Drinks and pizza at Aubrey's after the ride on your own dime. We plan to ride every Monday, weather permitting. Feel free to email with questions. "Bikes & Brews" ride Wednesday afternoons on the Lakelands Trail
During the summer, we host the "Bikes & Brews" ride Wednesday afternoons on the Lakelands Trail. Join us at 2:00pm at the east end of the Zukey Lake Tavern parking lot (5011 Girard Drive, Pinckney, MI). We'll pedal east to Whitmore Lake Rd, then turn back to Zukey, and continue west to the end of the paved section in Pinckney, before returning to the Zukey Lake Parking Lot. The total ride is about 23 miles on a paved, mostly flat dedicated bike path. Afterwards, we socialize on the roof-top deck of the Tavern overlooking Zukey Lake, enjoying a bite to eat and tasty beverages on your own tab. These rides formally commence once the Tavern opens their roof-top deck, likely around Memorial Day. If the weather permits, we may conduct some informal rides earlier in the spring. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me. Click Here to Email Joe
